Attending Events in Person
When to Arrive
All ticketholders must be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s published start time. We recommend arriving earlier to secure your seat; venue capacity is limited, and tickets do not guarantee admission. All passholders must be in line at least 30 minutes before a film’s published start time to ensure priority seating access.
Passholders
Passholders will receive a printed badge to be scanned for entry to a screening. Your name and a photo of you of your choosing will be printed on this badge. You can pick up your pass at different locations in Park City and Salt Lake City.
Q&As
Q&As for feature films will follow a film’s scheduled in-person screening. Q&As are subject to filmmaker availability.
Voting
Only those who attended an in-person film screening are eligible to vote. You must have a ticket that was scanned to vote for a film. You can only vote once per film, and votes cannot be changed once submitted. Attendees can submit their votes using the Sundance Film Festival 2026 mobile app (available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store) or the Festival platform.
Voting is quick and easy — here’s how to do it:
- Open the Sundance Film Festival 2026 mobile app or visit the Festival platform and navigate to “My Tickets.”
- Search for the film you wish to vote for and tap the “Vote” button below it.
- Cast your vote in the pop-up window using the 4-star rating system, with 4 stars being excellent.
- Next, tap the “Record Ballot” button to finalize your vote. That’s it!
In addition, all ticketholders will be sent a voting reminder email an hour before the scheduled end of a screening. The email will have a “Vote Now” button which will direct you to the site.
A Note on Megaplex Redstone
Films at Megaplex Redstone in Park City will be shown in multiple theaters simultaneously. As such, live intros and (when applicable) Q&As will be hosted in a designated primary theater and simulcasted live to the additional theaters. The theaters will be filled according to pass/ticket type and then first come, first served; your ticket does not guarantee you a seat in the primary theater or in an additional theater. We recommend arriving at your screening 45 minutes before start time. Ticketholders not able to gain entry will be provided a voucher to be redeemed for another film screening.
Attending Events With Alcohol
To comply with Utah’s 100% ID liquor law (HB 437) effective January 1, 2026, all guests must present a valid government-issued ID to purchase or be furnished an alcoholic beverage or to enter 21+ venues. Please ensure you carry a physical ID with you at all times to ensure uninterrupted access to Festival events.
Beyond Film
Listen as filmmakers, artists, and changemakers discuss some of the most pressing topics today through our Beyond Film program. Events will be held in person with recordings for some events later available online.
Beyond Film In Person
Most Beyond Film events are free. For admission to Cinema Cafe and The Big Conversation events, arrive at least 30 minutes early as seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
Upon arrival, present your Festival ID QR code for entry. You can access it through My Festival ID in the mobile app, or by logging in to your free Festival account and going to “My Schedule.”
Important: Festival tickets and Festival IDs serve different functions. A Festival ticket allows entry to a screening, whereas a Festival ID allows entry to an event (such as Beyond Film). Both can be retrieved as QR codes using the mobile app. Both can be retrieved as QR codes using the mobile app.
Ratings
Most of the films in our Festival program have not been rated. We curate bold and creative films that can be provocative and are not suitable for all audiences. Please read the film description in our Festival Program Guide prior to reserving a film to ensure the film is appropriate for all viewers in your group.
Notes on Sharing
Please read our Anti-Piracy Statement for information about attending in-person screenings and events.
Digital Tickets and QR Codes
All Festival tickets this year will be digital; we will not be issuing any physical tickets. You can choose to print a physical copy of your digital ticket, but no physical tickets will be issued by the Festival. At the venue for your screening, present your ticket QR code on your mobile device to be scanned for entry. You can retrieve your ticket through the “My Tickets” section of the 2026 Sundance Film Festival mobile app or by logging in to your Festival account on a web browser and going to “My Schedule.”

How to Print Your Tickets
If you do not use a smartphone, you may print your tickets in PDF format by logging in to your Festival account on your browser and clicking on “My Festival Schedule” (the calendar icon). From here, go to the “More” column and select “Download Printable Tickets PDF.” Please ensure that you print the full ticket with the QR code or scan bar.
How to Join a Waitlist
Didn’t get a ticket or seat to that film you really wanted to see? You still may be able to attend by joining a waitlist for that screening.
Waitlists are available for sold-out in-person screenings. Entry for individual waitlists opens two hours before showtime and closes 30 minutes prior. While the number associated with your Waitlist Pass reflects your position in line, we still advise that you arrive early to your intended screening. You can also add a companion to your Waitlist Pass (you will both receive a number that determines your place in the queue).
To join a Waitlist, first find the screening you want to attend, then follow the steps below to join the Waitlist via the mobile app or Festival website.

How to Use the 2026 Festival Apps
The 2026 Festival Apps are now available to download.
Our digital apps are designed to help make your Festival experience as enjoyable and enriching as possible. There are two apps for this year’s 2026 Festival — the mobile app and the TV app.
The mobile app is recommended for in-person attendees as it provides helpful information and services regarding ticketing, transportation, and more. If you have the 2024 or 2025 edition of the app installed, you will need to update it to access the 2026 app. Any Festival apps from 2023 and earlier will not work; you will need to delete these apps and download the 2026 app.
The TV app is intended for those who have purchased tickets, passes, or packages to watch online Festival films and wish to watch them on their Roku, Apple TV, Google TV, or Amazon FireTV devices. Any TV app from an earlier festival will not work. The TV app can also be used. Both apps are free to download, and both require that you log in with a Festival account to enjoy their unique offerings and amenities.
To get started, simply download the app(s) and log in with your Festival account or create a new account. If you are having difficulty with updating the app, uninstall the app and download the latest version. Learn about the general functions of each app and how to use them below.
Sundance Film Festival 2026 Mobile App

- And much more!
Please note that the Festival site and mobile app may be hard to access when you use them in areas with no or poor network connection.
Please download the mobile app as early as possible. It can take up to 24 hours for film tickets to populate in the app after it has been downloaded. Having the app installed earlier than later can help you avoid any potential delays in accessing tickets.
Sundance Film Festival Player TV App
Watch this year’s Festival films on your smart TV by using the Sundance Film Festival Player TV app available for Roku, Apple TV (available in the Apple TV App Store), Google TV, and Amazon FireTV. Please refer to Technical Requirements for device and browser compatibility.

Please be advised that your Festival account can only be registered with one app or device. You will not be able to start an online screening on one app and then finish it on another, or register your Festival account to watch films on multiple devices.

Theaters, Rules, and Regulations
At Sundance Institute, we believe in the magic of the cinematic experience. Nothing can match the experience of discovering a new filmmaker or movie alongside other independent film lovers. To honor our filmmakers’ craftsmanship, all of our theaters are outfitted with Dolby Digital Sound and projected with Barco D-Cinema projectors.
Theater Rules & Regulations
All Festival patrons must adhere to the following guidelines. Regulations applicable to all venues include:
- All ticketholders must be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s published start time. We recommend arriving earlier to secure your seat; venue capacity is limited, and tickets do not guarantee admission. All passholders must be in line at least 30 minutes before a film’s published start time to ensure priority seating access.
- By entering the theater, patrons consent to be photographed/filmed, and grant Sundance Institute and its successors and partners — including signed parties, carrier stations, network station(s), sponsor(s), advertising agents, and their affiliated entities — the right to record and use their image, likeness, and voice worldwide in perpetuity for any purpose whatsoever. In addition, attending patrons release the above parties from any and all liability for loss or damage to person or property while they are at or around the theater. Please see the Ticketing Terms and Conditions to review the full scope of our rights.
- All cell phones and electronic devices must be turned off prior to the start of the film. The use of cameras or other recording equipment during screenings is strictly prohibited.
- No babies in arms or strollers are permitted in theaters.
- Pets — except for service animals — are prohibited.
- Patrons must take all personal belongings and litter with them upon exit. Any items left behind may be disposed of.
- Sundance Institute reserves the right to search the personal belongings of any patron inside or around the premises of the theaters and to remove disruptive or non-compliant patrons from the theaters at its sole discretion.
- All patrons agree to comply with all published and stated rules and regulations.
Theater-Specific Access
Any patron who wants to request accessibility-related accommodations, such as a wheelchair space or an assistive listening device, should email our Accessibility team at accessibility@sundance.org as soon as possible after purchasing tickets. Patrons can also speak with a Festival staff member as soon as they arrive at the theater to request an accommodation. Please see Accessibility Statement and Requests for more information.

How to Watch Award-Winners Films
If you are interested in attending award-winners screenings, please review the following important information to ensure that you have the best experience.
Winners Announcement
How to Secure Your Ticket at an Awards-Winner’s Screening
The Festival Program Guide “Awards Winners” section currently lists category Award-Winner film screenings. After the winners are announced, the placeholder screening names will change to the respective winning film titles.
Here’s how to secure your spot for a category award-winner screening on the Festival platform:
- Sign in to your Sundance Film Festival account and click “Program” at the top of the page. Here, you can explore the Film Program Guide menus, download the program as a PDF, or use the “Search the Program” tool and search by filter.
- Navigate to the Award Winners category on the Festival Program Guide.
- Select the category that you’re interested in (please note that award winners will not yet be announced, so if you make your selections before they are announced, then you will only know the category of the film you will be seeing and not the actual title of the film).
- Choose a screening time then click “Tickets.”
- Make your ticket selection from the pop-up that says “Ticket Options” (the pop-up will confirm the package or pass that you’re using, and the order will be $0). You will only be shown available tickets according to your package or pass.
- Agree to the Purchasing Terms.
- Press the Complete Order button to complete the order or select “Go Back” to exit.
In Person Award-Winners Screenings
If you are attending in person, we advise that you be in the appropriate line at least 15 minutes before a film’s published start time to give you the best chance of admission.
Online Award-Winners Screenings
The Award Winners Single Film Ticket is another great option to watch award-winning Festival films online.
Purchasers of this ticket option can watch their chosen award-winning Festival film beginning on Saturday, January 31 until 11:55 p.m. on Sunday, February 1.
Your screening begins when you click the Watch Now button in My Schedule or from the film detail page. You will have five hours to finish your screening. You can pause the film, rewind, and fast-forward, but you must finish watching it before the five-hour window ends.
Festival Health and Wellness Tips
We are committed to prioritizing the health of our artists, audiences, employees, and volunteers. While respiratory viruses fluctuate throughout the year, we have implemented a set of health practices to support the well-being of our community that we encourage everyone to follow. These guidelines align with recommendations from health authorities and apply to all staff and participants at Sundance Film Festival hubs, programs, and events.
We encourage everyone to prioritize self-care to help ensure they have a safe, healthy, and fulfilling festival experience.
General Health Recommendations
If you or someone you know are experiencing the following symptoms, call 911 immediately:
- Difficulty breathing
- Persistent chest pain or pressure
- New confusion
- Inability to wake or stay awake
- Pale, gray, or blue-colored skin, lips, or nail beds, (depending on skin tone)
Hand Hygiene: Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer regularly when soap is unavailable.
Social Distancing: Practice physical distancing for your comfort and safety while at Sundance Film Festival hubs, programs, and events.
Self-Monitoring: Assess your health continuously. If you feel unwell, remain at home, in your accommodation, or visit the nearest medical clinic. Wear a mask when outside of your home or accommodation.
If You Feel Unwell: If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, stay home or in your accommodation, or wear a mask when outside of your home or accommodation.
Wellness
Here are some wellness tips to help you stay healthy and energized during the Sundance Film Festival, especially if you’re new to high-altitude environments and cold weather:
- Adapt Your Routine: The Festival can be an exciting but physically demanding experience with early mornings, late nights, and lots of walking. Maintain your usual wellness habits, including physical activity, stretching, and meditation. Build in time to rest and recharge throughout the day to avoid burnout.
- Dress for the Cold: The weather in Park City and Salt Lake City can be harsh, with freezing temperatures and snow. It’s recommended that you wear layers, including hats, gloves, and warm boots, to protect yourself from the elements. Keeping warm will help you stay comfortable and focused throughout the Festival.
- Monitor the Effects of High Altitude: If you’re unaccustomed to higher elevations, you might experience shortness of breath, headaches, or fatigue. Pace yourself and avoid overexertion, especially in the first few days, to allow your body to adjust.
- Hydrate Frequently: The high altitude in Park City can dehydrate your body, especially when coupled with the cold weather. Drink an extra 1 to 1.5 liters of water each day. Keep a water bottle handy and refill it at water stations at theaters and venues. If you consume alcohol, it’s essential to drink even more water, as alcohol dehydrates you faster at higher altitudes.
- Fuel Your Body: Keep up with long days with the proper nutrition. Eat balanced meals and avoid skipping them, even if your schedule gets busy. High-protein snacks like nuts, energy bars, or yogurt can help sustain your energy levels between events.
- Sleep is Essential: With so many activities happening around the clock, it can be tempting to skimp on sleep. However, quality sleep is key to keeping your immune system strong and preventing burnout. Try to stick to a consistent sleep schedule, even if it means leaving an event early.
- Drink Responsibly: Alcohol affects your body more quickly at higher altitudes. Drink responsibly and be mindful of its effects on your hydration and energy levels. Consider alternating alcoholic drinks with water to stay balanced.
Following these tips can support you in enjoying everything the Sundance Film Festival offers while keeping your body and mind in top shape!
Safety and Security Policies
These are the key policies that we apply in order to keep our Festival community safe and secure.
Bag and Jacket Checks
All coats, jackets, bags, backpacks, purses, cases, and similar items will be inspected prior to admission in any official Festival venues. Patrons refusing to submit or consent to the bag and jacket inspection shall be refused entry. These checks are done by security vendors hired by Sundance Institute and do not include any physical touching (like pat-downs).
Luggage and duffel bags are not permitted in any official Festival venues and cannot be stored on-site at any venue. Patrons who arrive with luggage or duffel bags will be required to remove them from the venue. Staff and personnel are not responsible for any bags or luggage left in a Festival venue.
Security Guards
Security guards are present at all official Festival venues and theaters, as well as at various events. Security guards are provided by our local security partners and are strategically placed at access points to keep our Festival community safe. All guards are unarmed and properly identified with their company logos.
Partner Events
The Sundance Institute is proud to offer our partners the opportunity to host events at our Festival. These events are wholly programmed and produced by our partners, even if they take place in an Official Festival Venue. All partner events must comply with our Community Agreement. Partner events serving alcohol may request identification.
Anti-Piracy
Please respect the work and livelihoods of our filmmakers and do not copy, rebroadcast, or distribute any film, or any portion thereof, each of which constitutes copyright infringement under United States and international copyright laws. We ask that you enjoy Festival films as they were intended: to be viewed in theaters and in small home gatherings, and streamed on the Sundance Film Festival digital platform.
Sundance Institute will take appropriate action against attendees who attempt to pirate, exhibit, or record any Festival films or other Festival content. The state of Utah bans piracy as set forth in Utah Statute on Piracy 13-10b-201. Copying copyrighted works can also subject you to civil statutory damages of up to $150,000 per work and felony criminal charges resulting in imprisonment. Sundance Film Festival takes extensive measures to curtail piracy, including digital (visible) and forensic (invisible) watermarking.
Cameras and recording devices are strictly prohibited. Our staff are trained to handle piracy in accordance with state and federal law and will cooperate with local, state, and federal law enforcement on piracy-related matters.
Community Agreement Violations and Law Enforcement
All incidents that violate our Community Agreement are subject to an immediate and equitable review process with our third-party event ombuds, tEQuitable. We encourage using the Sundance Film Festival reporting mechanisms listed in the Community Agreement to document instances that occur at the Festival.
Any Community Agreement violations that include criminal activity fall under the jurisdiction of local law enforcement. Sundance Institute operates under the jurisdiction of and alongside the Park City Police Department, Summit County Sheriff’s Office, and Salt Lake City Police Department.
Community Agreement Support and Intervention Resources
At the Sundance Film Festival, we are committed to fostering an environment where every individual feels respected, valued, and has a true sense of belonging. As we strive for a more equitable and accessible future, we recognize that a shared commitment to these principles is essential for the success of our Festival. We invite everyone to contribute to creating a space that is welcoming, safe, and inspiring by reviewing and adhering to our Community Agreement.
Sundance Institute has partnered with tEQuitable, an independent, third-party ombuds resource, offering confidential, neutral, and impartial support.

Important: Festival tickets and Festival IDs serve different functions. A Festival ticket allows entry to a screening, whereas a Festival ID allows entry to an event (such as Beyond Film). Both can be retrieved as QR codes using the mobile app.

Sundance Film Festival Player TV App

Please be advised that your Festival account can only be registered with one app or device. You will not be able to start an online screening on one app and then finish it on another, or register your Festival account to watch films on multiple devices.
How to Join a Waitlist

To join a Waitlist, first find the screening you want to attend, then follow the steps below to join the Waitlist via the mobile app or Festival website.

Welcoming Our Trans Artists and Community to the 2025 Sundance Film Festival
As we prepare for the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, our fundamental intention remains for all who attend the Sundance Film Festival to feel welcome and safe.
Understanding Recent Law Changes
In May, Utah House Bill 257, Sex-based Designations for Privacy, Anti-bullying and Women’s Opportunities, went into effect after the law was passed during the 2024 Utah legislative session.
You may have heard H.B. 257 referred to as the “bathroom bill” or “bathroom ban” in the media. This law has understandably raised concerns among many. Importantly, this bill does not restrict the use of restrooms unless the restroom is within or attached to a changing room in a government-owned or controlled building. The new law does affect the use of changing rooms in those buildings, and most of the law’s guidelines and restrictions apply to K–12 public schools.
We recognize that the enactment of H.B. 257 has been exceptionally difficult for the community directly targeted by this law. We have heard from members of our community wondering how the new law would impact their attendance at the Sundance Film Festival, and we want to provide clarity.
The 2026 Sundance Film Festival theaters and venues are not impacted by the law, nor is Salt Lake City International Airport.
More specifically, as it pertains to the Sundance Film Festival:
- Festival venues and surrounding businesses: H.B. 257 does not affect the theaters, hotels, businesses, or buildings that Sundance Film Festival operates in Park City and Salt Lake City, nor does it apply to bathrooms and changing facilities in places like restaurants, hotels, theaters, malls, etc. that are privately owned.
- Eccles Theater in Park City: While one of the Festival venues, the Eccles Theater in Park City, is housed within a government-run public school, as a private rental we will not be enforcing this law and we will not offer any bathrooms that are within changing rooms. As such, our guests are welcome to choose to use any bathroom within the venue. For those who need to use a restroom while waiting in the lines outside the venue, we will have an all-gender restroom trailer available.
- Salt Lake City International Airport: H.B. 257 does not affect the airport. Passengers can use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity; the airport does not have changing rooms. There are single-stall restrooms for people who prefer. Likewise, other transportation centers where bathrooms are independent of changing rooms are not affected.
While the law does not impact any venues that the Festival uses or the airport that people may use while traveling in and out of Utah, we want to share some further FAQ around this law to help those who may have general questions when traveling to Utah for the Festival.
How does the law affect what bathroom a transgender, nonbinary, or gender-nonconforming person uses?
H.B. 257 permits people to use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity, rather than their sex at birth, so long as the restroom is not attached to a changing room in a government building. Different rules apply in the K–12 setting during school use.
When might there be a penalty?
While there is no penalty for using a bathroom so long as it is not attached to a changing room, the space remains governed by traditional privacy laws. As relates to the Festival, our venues are not in government buildings or public schools where a restroom is with a changing room.
What is a changing room?
Changing rooms are defined as shared spaces designated for multiple people to dress and undress. This includes dressing rooms, fitting rooms, locker rooms, and shower rooms. A changing room with a restroom in or attached to it is considered a changing room. As relates to the Festival, our restrooms in government buildings or public schools do not include restrooms with changing rooms.
As the airport is a government building, are there restrictions?
Passengers can use whichever sex-designated restroom that aligns with their gender identity at the airport as the airport does not have any changing rooms. In addition to the men’s and women’s restrooms, they do have separate gender-neutral restrooms for passengers.

Moving Forward Together
As an arts nonprofit, our role is to nurture artists and provide a place for communities to come together, converse, and engage with their stories. We will do everything we can to continue this for our full community. We want to assure the communities most affected by this legislation — including transgender, nonbinary, and gender-nonconforming people — that you are vital to the Sundance community.
As we share in our Community Agreement, we remain steadfast in our commitment to freedom of creative expression while simultaneously uplifting anti-racist, anti-sexist, and anti-discriminatory practices in all areas of the Sundance Institute community. We strive for a harassment-free, safe, and respectful environment that protects community members from conduct that is inappropriate, disruptive, abusive, and threatening. We do not tolerate any discrimination against transgender people, and we will continue to listen to and engage with organizations as well as community leaders to make sure the Sundance Film Festival maintains a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment to all our artists, staff, volunteers, and audiences of all gender identities and expressions.
