  • Google Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge

  • Google Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Opera

Important: iCloud Private Relay must be turned off (disabled) to watch; iCloud Private Relay is a security feature on devices running macOS Monterey (version 12) and later that is not compatible with the Sundance Film Festival Player. To turn off Private Relay, go to: Apple menu > System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud > Private Relay.

You can stream from your computer, mobile device, or browser to your TV through a wireless cast with Chromecast (3rd generation or later) or AirPlay.

App Features
  • Access films you’ve made ticket selections for and/or have Single Film Tickets
  • Browse and watch your content via Roku, Apple TV, Google TV, or Amazon FireTV
  • Chromecast or Airplay content using your computer or phone with supported devices

Important: Make purchases (i.e., tickets and merch) using your Festival account via the 2026 Festival online platform. You will then need to connect your Festival account to the app of your choice to access your film.

Please note that screen mirroring on Smart TVs and devices cannot be used to watch this year’s Festival. In addition, you cannot register your Festival account or watch films on multiple devices (i.e., you can’t watch on both Apple TV and Amazon FireTV). Visit our How to Watch resources for more information about in-person and online Festival screenings.

Casting to Your TV

Make sure that you are logged in to your Festival account and have a ticket to the selected film.

To cast from your computer, tablet or mobile phone to your TV using Airplay:

  1. Please ensure you are using Safari on a Mac or iOS device.
  2. On the film’s screening page or My Schedule, click “Watch Now” to start the screening.
  3. Once the screening has started, click the Airplay icon in the lower right hand corner of the player to cast to your television.
  4. When casting from a Mac or iOS device to a television for the first time, a 4-digit code may appear on the tv screen. This will need to be entered on your computer or mobile device to proceed to cast.

Both devices must be on the same Wi-Fi network.  Airplay on Eventive is only supported on Apple TV generation 4 and higher or a smart TV enabled with Airplay Generation 2. Airplay Generation 2 is typically available on smart TVs produced in or after 2018.

If the TV that you are casting to using Airplay does not appear in the list of available options:

  • Please refresh your screen and try casting again.
  • Please ensure your device and the TV you’re casting to are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If after refreshing your screen, the TV you are looking to cast to does not appear, it could be that the device is not Airplay Generation 2 compatible.

To cast from your computer, tablet or mobile phone to your TV using Chromecast:

  1. Please ensure you are using Google Chrome.
  2. On the film’s screening page or My Schedule, click “Watch Now” to start the screening.
  3. Once the screening has started, click the Chromecast icon in the lower right hand corner of the player to cast to your television.

To Chromecast from a computer or mobile device, the computer or mobile device must be Chromecast compatible, and both the computer/mobile device and Chromecast device must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

If the TV that you are casting to using Chromecast does not appear in the list of available options:

  • Please refresh your screen and try casting again.
  • Please ensure your device and the TV you’re casting to are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Check the cast option in your Google Chrome browser (not the video player):
  1. Click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner of the browser. Select “Cast, Save, and Share” and then select “Cast”
  2. You will see options for casting devices nearby. See if your device shows.  If it does, great, but do NOT select it.
  3. Go back to the video player and see if the Chromecast icon now shows in the bottom right corner. Click that and then select your Chromecast device to start casting!
  • Close the browser entirely on your computer or mobile device, and power down your TV or chromecast device for 1 minute (unplug it). Relaunch your browser and turn back on the TV or chromecast device. Make sure both your computer/tablet/phone and the TV or chromecast are on the same Wi-Fi network.  Try casting again.
  • If after the above steps, the TV you are looking to cast to does not appear, it could be that the TV is not compatible with Chromecast.

Using the Festival TV App

Watch using the Sundance Film Festival Player available for Apple TV (generation 4 or later), FireTV, Google TV and Roku (available now in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store). Please note the following:

  • For security purposes, you may register only one Sundance Film Festival Player for viewing (i.e., you can’t watch Festival films on both AppleTV and FireTV apps).
  • You can’t purchase anything with the Sundance Film Festival Player; this can only be done on the Festival website.
  • Films that you have made a ticket selection for (e.g. Single Film Tickets) or that you can fulfill with an applicable pass  (ref. passholders) will appear in the app.

Approved Device List

The Sundance Film Festival Player TV app should work on the following devices:

  • Apple TV (generation 4 or later)
  • FireTV (Fire OS 6 or higher. Most FireTV models that support 1080p or greater resolution)
  • Google TV Streamer (4K), Chromecast with Google TV (4K)
  • Roku (OS 10 or later)
    • Roku streaming players 9102X, 9101X, 9100X, 4800X, 4670X, 4662X, 4661X, 4660X, 4640X, 4630X, 4620X, 4400X, 4230X, 4210X, 4200X, 3941X, 3940X, 3931X, 3930X, 3921X, 3920X, 3910X, 3900X, 3811X, 3810X, 3800X, 3710X, 3700X, 3600X, 3500X, 2720X, 2710X, 2700X
  • All Roku TV models
  • All Google TV Models

Using an HDMI Cable

You can also connect your laptop to your TV via HDMI cable. To connect your laptop/computer to your TV using HDMI:

  1. Connect the HDMI cable into the HDMI TV port.
  2. Plug the HDMI cable into your laptop’s port.
  3. Set your TV to the corresponding HDMI input port using source display or the TV remote (manual detection might be required).

Note: If using an HDMI cable to connect your computer to your TV, please note that the computer must be connected directly to the TV using only an HDMI cable. If you need any additional adapters or dongles to make the connection, this will not work as any additional dongles or adapters may not support the security encoding on our films.  If you have connected a computer, tablet or mobile phone to a television set using anything other than an HDMI cable, you may encounter a black screen where the content should be (even if audio plays normally).

Using an iPhone/iPad

Watch on your iPhone or iPad using the Safari browser on iOS 11.2 or later. To watch on your TV, use AirPlay or the Sundance Film Festival Player. Please note that screen-mirroring cannot be used due to content protection restrictions.

Important: iCloud Private Relay must be turned off (disabled) to watch; iCloud Private Relay is a security feature on devices with iOS 15.4 and later that is not compatible with the Sundance Film Festival Player. To turn off Private Relay, go to: Settings > [Name] > iCloud > Private Relay

Using an Android Device

Watch on your Android device with Chrome on Android 6.0 or later. To use Chromecast, you must have a 3rd generation or later Chromecast stick. Here are some tips for how to Chromecast from different devices:

  • Mobile: Your mobile phone or tablet must be on the same Wi-Fi network as your Chromecast device; if the “Cast” icon is not visible in your player, casting might not be supported.
  • Computer: Use the Google Chrome browser and click “Cast”; if the “Cast” icon is not visible in your player, casting might not be supported.

To watch in the highest resolution available (1080p and 4K/UHD included), use the following device and browser combinations:

  • Sundance Film Festival Player for Roku, Apple TV, Google TV, and Amazon Fire TV
  • Safari on macOS
  • Edge on Windows
  • Safari on iOS
  • Chrome on Windows or Android

For additional support with devices, system requirements, and setup, visit our streaming vendor’s (Eventive) online help page. You can also test your device compatibility by using Eventive’s Device Compatibility test page.
